Kingdom Come: Deliverance II’s Final DLC Drags Players Into Mysteria Ecclesiae (Preview)

So, I’m really excited because there’s a new adventure coming for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II – it’s called “Mysteria Ecclesiae“. This game has been huge for Warhorse Studios, and I love how much there is to explore. They’ve already added a couple of DLC packs that mostly improved how the game plays, but this new one is different. It’s all about the story, which is exactly what I’ve been hoping for!

A mysterious virus is spreading through a remote monastery, and players must investigate its origins and a hidden conspiracy. During a recent preview event for the downloadable content, attended by journalists from outlets like Comicbook.com, representatives from Warhorse Studios explained the story behind the DLC and hinted at what’s next for the studio now that development on Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is finished.

The Mysteries Of The Monastery

The latest expansion for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, called “Mysteria Ecclesiae,” presents players with a brand new, intriguing challenge. Warhorse Studios, the game’s developer, has confirmed this will be the final downloadable content for the title. Unlike previous expansions that focused heavily on crafting and building, “Mysteria Ecclesiae” prioritizes story and expanding the game’s world. Players reprise their role as Henry of Skalitz, tasked by Peter of Pisek with protecting him while he investigates a dangerous virus outbreak at the Sedletz Monastery—one that could potentially become another Bubonic Plague if it isn’t contained.

The virus in this DLC campaign, described by Stolz-Zwilling and Jirsa as a ‘medieval CoVid,’ is the central threat, and much of the gameplay involves aiding those working to control and cure it. However, there’s a deeper story to uncover. As Henry investigates the monastery, he’ll expose a conspiracy brewing between competing factions, and players will be faced with difficult choices that impact the fate of the continent.

The new campaign DLC should take players 10 to 15 hours to complete. The developers have said there are lots of secrets and discoveries hidden within the monastery, going beyond the main story. Though it doesn’t connect directly to the rest of the game world, it gives players another opportunity to play as Henry in a brand new adventure.

Kingdom Come II: Deliverance Gets A Touch Of Assassin’s Creed

A key part of this game mode is playing stealthily. Players will explore the area and discover different groups trying to benefit from the current chaos. To help with this, Henry gets new armor focused on staying hidden, including a special plague-mask outfit the developers jokingly called “Ninja Henry.”

The game’s emphasis on stealth won’t overshadow its realistic and immersive gameplay. Players will often need to use both conversation and combat to survive encounters with the monastery’s soldiers, who are quick to eliminate the infected. The developers, Stolz-Zwilling and Jirsa, highlighted that player choices will significantly shape the story, and there will be a wide variety of weapons and items to find.

The game’s story focuses on finding a cure, and incorporates alchemy into how you play. This new story is a standalone addition you can start after reaching Kuttenberg, without needing to complete other parts of the game. It also includes small improvements to the game, fixing a few bugs and making dialogue and lip-syncing smoother.

The Complete Kingdom Come II — And The Future Of Warhorse Studios

To celebrate the release of the final downloadable content for the game, a complete version of Kingdom Come II is being released. Called Kingdom Come II: Deliverance – Royal Edition, this version includes the latest update and all three DLC packs, offering both new and returning players the complete, polished Kingdom Come II experience.

During the presentation, Stolz-Zwilling and Jirsa announced that Warhorse Studios will pause development in December to allow the team to rest. This break will also allow Kingdom Come II to be considered for year-end awards, including a potential nomination at The Game Awards. Although Kingdom Come II: Deliverance is now complete, the team is already planning future games. They hinted that their next project will be another immersive RPG, and they plan to continue creating similar games for the long term.

Warhorse Studios’ Kingdom Come II: Deliverance has been very successful, and the company plans to expand on that success by continuing to create deep and immersive RPG experiences. Although their future plans are uncertain, the dedication they put into crafting a detailed adventure has attracted many new fans who enjoyed playing as Henry and following his story.
