In a recent blog post, Kinetic Games unveiled their plan for Phasmophobia updates through 2025. This roadmap includes two significant changes in the ghost hunt mechanics and aspirations for significant map revisions. As of now, specific launch dates for these updates are not set, but Kinetic intends to roll out the first major map revamp in March 2025.
Alongside a fresh update from Kinetic, we also learn that the game Phasmophobia has surpassed 22 million sales since its debut on early access in September 2020.
The initial remodel for Bleasdale Farmhouse is part of the first location in the horror game. Kinetic Games has announced that this revamp significantly changes the location, incorporating fresh assets, additional props, and a new aesthetic to transform the previously dilapidated farmstead. In 2025, they also intend to redesign Grafton Farmhouse and Tanglewood Drive, two locations that have remained untouched since their initial appearance during Phasmophobia’s early access phase.
In the roadmap blog post, Kinetic explained that these updates aim to align the maps with our comprehensive vision for them. This means significant artistic transformations are on the way, featuring new elements and animations, an enhanced visual experience, along with some adjustments in layout. Despite the changes, the maps will retain the charm you’ve grown accustomed to from countless explorations.
In the course of 2025, Kinetic is planning to unveil an upgrade for Phasmophobia titled “Chronicle”, which brings in a novel reward system for amassing evidence. Presently, players are awarded extra money incentives for capturing high-quality images or videos of ghosts. The Chronicle update eliminates the quality grading system and classifies all evidence as either unique – the first time it’s captured by a player – or standard. This change aims to motivate players more effectively for collecting evidence and utilizing recording devices, and the upgrade will also include a sound recorder.
In 2025, Kinetic is set to introduce a significant upgrade titled the “Player Character Makeover.” This upgrade aims to enrich character customization options and enhance character visuals, along with various other modifications.
In summary, Kinetic has announced that seasonal events in 2025 will see enhancements. They plan to keep their three current events – Blood Moon for Halloween, Winter Fest with Krampus, and an Easter event – but anticipate making adjustments based on player feedback from the previous year. Details about these changes will be revealed as we approach the Easter event’s start date in April 2025. Kinetic assures us that while sticking to familiar themes, the events will offer a refreshed feel.
