Kieran Culkin has once more rekindled his amusing pretend rivalry with Pedro Pascal, this time at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards. During previous award seasons, the two actors gained viral fame by exchanging good-natured barbs at various ceremonies, and now Culkin is continuing the tradition at this year’s event. The “Succession” Emmy winner discussed Pascal during an appearance on EbMaster and Entertainment Tonight’s Golden Globes red carpet pre-show.
Is he present tonight? It seems he isn’t. I apologize, Pedro, but it appears you weren’t nominated this time around,” Culkin said with a chuckle. “Perhaps next year. If I’m not around then.
I had the honor of being nominated at the 2025 Golden Globes in the best supporting actor category, acknowledging my role in “A Real Pain,” directed by Jesse Eisenberg. This year, I’ve already received accolades from esteemed organizations like the New York Film Critics Circle and the Los Angeles Film Critics Association for my performance in this film.
On the red carpet, Culkin expressed, “He’s an exceptional individual, Pascal and my ‘Actors on Actors’ collaborator Colman Domingo. I truly desire to collaborate with them both. They are simply amazing, absolutely terrific.
Last year at the Golden Globes, Culkin initiated his playful rivalry with Pascal. This occurred when he received the award for best actor in a TV drama series for his role on the final season of HBO’s “Succession.” In his acceptance speech, Culkin reminisced to the audience about his earlier days at the Golden Globes, saying, “Twenty years ago, I was nominated for a Golden Globe, and even after that moment passed, I remember thinking I would never return to this room again.
He went on to say, “However, due to ‘Succession,’ I’ve dropped by a few times,” and then he made the audience laugh with, “Take that, Pedro!
During the Globes broadcast, the camera switched to a humorous look of puzzlement on Pascal’s face in the audience. Pascal had been nominated for his performance in HBO’s “The Last of Us.” A few weeks later, despite being delayed due to a strike, the Emmy Awards took place and Pascal was wearing a sling on his shoulder because of an injury. He explained to reporters that Kieran Culkin had given him a rough beating.
At the 2025 Golden Globes, Macaulay Culkin’s nomination is one of four nominations for the film “A Real Pain,” which itself is nominated in the category of Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical.
