KICK’s CEO, Eddie Craven, has announced that ads will be added to the platform soon, though he hasn’t specified exactly when they’ll launch.
Similar to traditional TV, watching videos on platforms like YouTube and Twitch is now often interrupted by advertisements. Luckily, you can usually avoid these ads by paying for a premium subscription to the service.
Since it began, Kick has operated without advertisements. This means you can watch streams without any interruptions or missing key moments due to ads.
The platform, supported by Stake, is planning to add ads soon, but they want to make sure the ads don’t ruin the viewing experience.
Kick boss Eddie confirms ads are coming
During a recent episode of Kick Talks on December 13th, Kick founder Craven mentioned that the platform will eventually introduce advertisements, so users should appreciate the current ad-free experience while it lasts.
Kick is currently operating at a loss, which is fine for now, but the platform plans to introduce advertisements eventually. So, enjoy the ad-free experience while it lasts! There’s no set timeline for when ads will appear, but they are planned for the future.
Our aim with Kick is to integrate ads carefully, so they don’t ruin the viewing experience. It’s a tough balance – we want to add ads without completely disrupting your enjoyment of livestreams. We understand we can’t just bombard people with ads and expect them to stay, so we’re being mindful about how we do this.
Eddie announced that Kick will eventually introduce advertisements, but wants to make sure they aren’t too disruptive. He encourages users to enjoy the current ad-free experience while it lasts, as ads are planned for the future, though there’s no set date for their arrival.

Craven also mentioned that Kick values its current users, especially because they appreciate the platform not having ads.
Twitch, and other streaming platforms, have faced a lot of complaints recently about the increasing number of ads. Popular streamer xQc has even suggested that these ads could seriously harm Twitch’s popularity, as they seem to be appearing more and more frequently during streams.
