Keanu Reeves‘ recent film didn’t fare well in theaters. The movie, a comedy with fantasy elements and a mature rating, failed to attract audiences when it came out last year, and will now be available to stream on Valentine’s Day.
The film Good Fortune will start streaming on Starz on February 14th. It’s arriving on the platform relatively quickly after being released in theaters on October 17, 2025, and becoming available for video-on-demand rental on November 7, 2025.
It’s not surprising that Lionsgate is releasing Good Fortune for digital rental and purchase less than a month after it was in theaters. The film didn’t perform well, opening at number three in the US and ultimately earning only $26 million worldwide. This wasn’t enough to cover its $30 million production budget, or the additional costs Lionsgate spent on marketing.
It’s a little unusual that Lionsgate waited nearly 100 more days to release Good Fortune, though they likely wanted to maximize revenue from its initial video-on-demand release. The film performed well during its first week.
Good Fortune Was Well-Received By Critics
Aziz Ansari wrote and directed the comedy film Good Fortune, marking his first time directing a feature film. He also acted in it, alongside stars like Keanu Reeves, Seth Rogen, Keke Palmer, and Sandra Oh.
This funny movie centers around Gabriel, an angel played by Reeves, who accidentally switches the bodies of two men (Ansari and Rogen). He hopes this will teach them that money doesn’t bring happiness. When things quickly fall apart – and get really funny – Gabriel loses his wings and has to fix the mess he’s made. The whole story takes place and was filmed in Los Angeles.
Although the movie didn’t do well in theaters, critics generally liked it. It has a ‘Fresh’ rating of 78% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 147 reviews, and audiences gave it an even better score of 80%.
Before taking on the role in Good Fortune, Keanu Reeves hadn’t starred in a film outside of established series since his cameo in the 2019 comedy Always Be My Maybe. He had faced a dip in popularity towards the end of the 2000s, but then experienced a major career resurgence with a franchise that continues to thrive today.
Although a fifth John Wick film has been discussed, Keanu Reeves will soon reprise his role as the iconic character in a new video game revealed at Sony’s State of Play event. Reeves not only provided his appearance for the game but also returned to voice the popular assassin.
Keanu Reeves currently has two films in the works. Both are dark comedies. One stars Cameron Diaz and Matt Bomer. The other, titled The Entertainment System Is Down, is the latest film from director Ruben Östlund, who previously made Triangle of Sadness. It boasts a star-studded cast including Kirsten Dunst, Samantha Morton, and Nicholas Braun.
Good Fortune arrives on Starz on Feb. 14.
