Oppenheim clarified that the disagreement isn’t between the filmmakers and the Pentagon, but between the Pentagon and a broader range of experts. He also pointed out that Senator Edward Markey, retired General Douglas Lute, long-time journalists Tom Nichols and Fred Kaplan, and the nonpartisan physics organization APS, have all affirmed the film’s accuracy. Bigelow emphasized to The Hollywood Reporter that the movie prioritizes “realism and authenticity,” stating she simply presents “the truth.”
