Katee Sackhoff, who plays Bo-Katan Kryze, recently shared news about her future with Star Wars. She first joined Lucasfilm in 2008, providing the voice for the character in The Clone Wars. She later returned to the role in Star Wars: Rebels and then appeared alongside Pedro Pascal in the live-action series The Mandalorian. While she was last seen in Season 3 of The Mandalorian, it’s currently unknown if or when she will appear in the Star Wars universe again.
At Fan Expo Vancouver this month, Katee Sackhoff reassured fans that her Star Wars journey isn’t over. During her panel, “The Mandalorian Princess: Katee Sackhoff,” she told TopMob staff and attendees that her character, Bo-Katan, will be back. She explained that as long as Bo-Katan is still alive, there’s always a possibility for her return.
“Always! She’s not dead. She ain’t going anywhere.”
Katee Sackhoff mentioned feeling particularly secure in her role as Bo-Katan because the character is inspired by Dave Filoni’s wife, joking that this practically guarantees her continued employment.
She won’t be changed, because her character is modeled after Dave Filoni’s wife. That means my job is safe as long as she remains a character! Anne Convery would definitely be upset if they altered her appearance.

Katee Sackhoff revealed on her podcast that the name Bo-Katan is a combination of Dave Filoni’s wife’s name, Anne Convery, and the name of their cat, Boogie. She also explained that the character’s appearance wasn’t based on her, but rather on Anne Convery.
Bo-Katan’s name actually comes from a combination of things: Anne Filoni, and a cat named Boogie! It’s funny because some people assume I was the inspiration, but it’s actually Dave Filoni’s wife, Anne. We just happen to look similar enough that it worked out.
Because Katee Sackhoff resembled Katee Convery, she was uniquely able to transition from voicing a character in the animated Star Wars series to playing that same character in live-action.
It was amazing hearing Katee Sackhoff talk about Bo-Katan! She described the first time she actually put on the Mandalorian armor, and it was such a special moment. She and Dave Filoni actually got a little emotional, and then she realized she hadn’t even thought about how Bo-Katan would physically move in it – a bit of a panic moment, but so relatable!
On my first day of filming, even though I’d played the character for eight years and knew her history inside and out, I realized I hadn’t thought about how she physically moved. I was very familiar with Bo, but I just assumed I knew how to portray her. When I put on the armor for the first time, Dave Filoni and I both got a little emotional. After he left, I looked at my reflection – at Katee in the Bo-Katan costume – and suddenly realized it didn’t feel like Bo. I had no idea how she would carry herself or move.
Katee Sackhoff has appeared in 10 episodes of The Mandalorian. She became a main cast member in Season 3, leading to rumors that her character, Bo-Katan, could take over the lead role from Din Djarin.
The actress indicated Bo-Katan will continue to be a part of the story for a while, and now the focus is on figuring out when she’ll reappear.
When Will Bo-Katan Kryze Return in Star Wars?

Since Season 4 of The Mandalorian is paused until after the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu, it’s currently unknown if Katee Sackhoff will return as Bo-Katan Kryze. While she might appear in The Mandalorian and Grogu, any plans for her involvement haven’t been revealed yet.
Throughout the third season of the Disney+ show, Bo-Katan became a key ally to Din Djarin, helping him by bringing together the scattered Mandalorian clans and leading them in battle against Moff Gideon. She ended the season rebuilding Mandalore and restoring the Great Forge, leaving her story with plenty of potential for future development.
Katee Sackhoff, known for her role in The Mandalorian & Grogu, might return in Season 2 of Ahsoka. Both shows happen at the same time, and her character, Bo-Katan, shares a backstory with Rosario Dawson’s character from their appearances in the animated Star Wars series.
Bo-Katan clearly matters to the creator, Dave Filoni, so it’s likely we’ll see her appear in future Star Wars projects.
