Get ready! The next installment, Mortal Kombat 2, is set to feature Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, the beloved action film actor from the Mortal Kombat series. Here’s what he’ll look like in the game.
1995 saw the debut of the action-packed “Mortal Kombat” series in movie theaters, which was later followed by “Mortal Kombat: Annihilation” in 20 years’ time. Fast forward to 2021, and the franchise received a fresh start with a remake on the big screen, offering fans an exciting blend of triumphant battles, violent moves, iconic character appearances, and hints at the development of a comprehensive Mortal Kombat Cinematic Universe (MKCU).
Warner Bros swiftly approved a follow-up movie, focusing on correcting the oversight of the original – the absence of a genuine Mortal Kombat tournament within its storyline.
Now, the launch of marketing for Mortal Kombat 2 is underway! We’ve got a sneak peek at Urban’s interpretation of Johnny Cage, along with the fresh new logo – so gear up for some excitement!

people were taken aback by Urban being chosen for the role of the martial arts fighter, given his propensity for kickboxing; some questioned if he was truly the ideal candidate.
Initially, it might have appeared that Scott Adkins or The Miz were obvious choices for Cage in the series, but people seem to be overlooking just how exceptional Karl Urban is as Butcher in The Boys, and his portrayal of Dredd as well. With proper training and hands-on stuntwork (the team has mentioned addressing fan criticisms about the first installment, so let’s keep our fingers crossed), he could deliver an outstanding performance.
While some fans are still unsure, it’s still ramped up excitement for the sequel.
1. “Initially, I had my reservations when the news broke, but wow, Karl Urban is fantastic as Johnny Cage! This is simply amazing,” one user commented.
2. “I had my doubts upon hearing the announcement, but Karl Urban fits the role of Johnny Cage so well! What a great choice,” another posted.
3. “The casting choice for Johnny Cage couldn’t be more spot on. It reminds me of his performance in the movie Dredd,” a third wrote.
At last, the best Hollywood has to offer has made a grand appearance! Here’s wishing for more of his eco-friendly talents on the silver screen,” a user posted on Twitter.
