Karl Urban Reveals His 1 Condition for Chronicles of Riddick Sequel Return

Karl Urban, known for his role in The Boys, is still interested in reprising his part as Commander Siberius Vaako from the 2004 sci-fi action film. He played the character over two decades ago, but remains open to returning to the role.

Karl Urban Is Open to Returning as Vaako

“I’m not sure,” Urban admitted. “But if the project was a good fit – the right role, a great script, and good timing – I’d definitely be interested in returning to work with that team. I really enjoyed collaborating with Vin Diesel and Dave Twohey, and I love the world those movies create, so I’m open to it.”

The film series starring Vin Diesel as Riddick began with Pitch Black in 2000. Karl Urban joined the cast as Vaako in the 2004 sequel, The Chronicles of Riddick, and reappeared in Riddick (2013), though with a smaller role. Recently, Vin Diesel has hinted at a fourth film, titled Riddick: Furya, with director David Twohy also set to return. However, a release date for Furya hasn’t been announced yet, so it’s uncertain when the movie will be released.

Fans have been asking for another Riddick movie for years, and now it’s happening! Director David Twohy shared in 2023 that Riddick: Furya is in development. He’s worked with Vin Diesel and the One Race production team for two decades, creating three films, two video games, an anime series, and online motion comics. This new movie will take audiences to Riddick’s home world, finally revealing his origins.

The Riddick Trilogy Made Over $267M Worldwide

The Riddick films have earned more than $267 million worldwide. Pitch Black brought in over $53 million, and The Chronicles of Riddick earned more than double that amount, exceeding $115 million. Although Riddick earned a little less, it still did well, bringing in over $98 million.

Whether Vin Diesel will reprise his role as Riddick remains to be seen. In the meantime, he’ll be in theaters on May 8, 2026, and will also appear in the final season of The Boys, premiering on Prime Video on April 8, 2026.
