Kai Cenat recently shared that he took a break from streaming to focus on his mental health. He explained that watching anime helped him relax, recharge, and rediscover himself outside of his work on Twitch.
The Twitch streamer shared on X (formerly Twitter) that sticking to a regular streaming schedule sometimes made him feel disconnected from reality.
Honestly, taking a break from gaming really made me think. I realized I wasn’t hanging out with my friends and family nearly as much as I wanted to. It just felt like I needed to step back, completely recharge, and get my priorities straight.
I noticed that because I was streaming so consistently, I started to feel disconnected from real life. I needed to take a break and recharge. I also realized I wasn’t spending as much time with my friends and family as I wanted to.

How anime helped Kai Cenat reset
While taking a break from streaming, Cenat finally got around to watching anime, something he’d been wanting to do for a while. He said it helped him relax and escape into stories he connected with.
Kai Cenat mentioned that Death Note was the first anime he really got into, enjoying its characters, story, and music. He now considers Naruto his favorite, appreciating how it emphasizes the value of friendship, kindness, perseverance, and strong morals.
I used to be one of those people who didn’t get anime, just thinking it was a different kind of cartoon. But honestly, it’s already given me a huge boost of confidence, and I’m only two seasons in! Naruto, especially, really hits home – it’s all about believing in yourself, following what you love, and never, ever giving up on your dreams. It’s actually pretty inspiring!

He used to find anime odd, but now he says it actually helped him become more confident and see things differently while he was taking a break from Twitch.
Kai Cenat explains why he decided to speak up
Cenat admitted he was nervous about being open with the public in early December, particularly because he’d gotten a negative reaction when he’d shared personal feelings online before.
His experience helped him understand why so many people hesitate to talk about their mental health, even though opening up could benefit themselves and others.

I was really glad to hear him say he wasn’t down or depressed, just that he felt like he had to share what was on his mind after thinking things over. It was good to know he was speaking up because he wanted to, not because he was struggling with his mental health.
Cenat explained he chose to be open about his struggles to help others who might be secretly battling self-doubt or fear, and to connect with them on a deeper level.
