Park Bom, a former member of the K-pop group 2NE1, is suing her old record company, YG Entertainment, and seeking a massive amount of money in damages. She claims the company committed fraud and misused funds.
Park Bom is a South Korean singer best known as a member of the popular girl group 2NE1, which gained international fame in the 2010s. She has since paused her activities with the group due to health concerns.
During their most popular years, the group 2NE1 worked with YG Entertainment, and they even renewed their contract with the company in August 2024, promising a return to music. However, one member, Park Bom, left YG back in 2016 and is now with D-Nation.
In October 2025, South Korean media reported that singer Bom is suing Yang Hyun Suk, the head of YG Entertainment. She claims he didn’t pay her the money she earned, and the sum she’s requesting is a very large amount.

Park Bom demands more than South Korea’s GDP in fraud suit
Park Bom publicly asked for an investigation into YG Entertainment, sharing a message on Instagram (which she has since removed) urging people in Korea to look into what the company did to her, and to do so fairly.
She included a picture of a legal document revealing that Yang Hyun Suk was accused of fraud and stealing money.
According to court documents, the defendant failed to fully compensate the complainant for earnings from album sales, concerts, media appearances, commercials, events, and their work as a songwriter and composer.
The estimated amount in dispute is about ₩1002003004006007001000034,64272 trillion, representing the profits the claimant should have received.
Calculations by Korean news outlets show that 642,720 trillion Korean won is roughly equivalent to $4.5 quadrillion US dollars.
In 2023, South Korea’s economy—measured by its gross domestic product (GDP), which is the total value of everything the country produces—was worth $1.713 trillion US dollars.
Park Bom is requesting an amount of money that far exceeds South Korea’s total economic output, and people online are shocked.
Social media is buzzing with reactions after a surprisingly large sum of money was reported. Many users expressed disbelief, with some playfully suggesting a typo and others struggling to understand how anyone could receive such a large amount.
This number is probably an exaggeration, used to show just how much money YG Entertainment allegedly took from Bom while she was a member of the company.
Following the widespread attention to the lawsuit, D-Nation, Park Bom’s record label, released a statement saying they have no control over her actions and are investigating the legal claims against Yang Hyun-Suk.
