As a film enthusiast who has spent countless hours immersed in the worlds of both classic and contemporary cinema, I must say that the collaboration between Death Row Games and New Regency is an exciting development in the ever-evolving landscape of entertainment. With roots deeply entrenched in music, culture, and storytelling, it’s no surprise that Snoop Dogg’s Death Row Games would find synergy with New Regency’s rich film library.
A game inspired by the 2011 sci-fi action movie “In Time,” which starred Justin Timberlake, is set to debut on Fortnite this Thursday. This launch comes as a result of a recent agreement between Snoop Dogg’s Death Row Games and New Regency to transform their film library into games for the widely used gaming platform.
Death Row Games’ Good Game Champ team will create their projects utilizing the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), starting off with “In Time,” a game that seamlessly fits the versatile UEFN platform, offering players an exceptional AAA-quality gaming experience.
The movie, which is its basis, was helmed by Andrew Niccol and featured Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Cillian Murphy, and Olivia Wilde in the cast. At this moment, it has a 36% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. According to New Regency, “In Time” is set in a society where time acts as currency, exploring a world characterized by extreme disparities, where one’s survival depends on every second. The film offers a compelling narrative and themes of resistance that offer vast opportunities for intriguing storytelling.
As a dedicated admirer, I’m thrilled to share some exciting updates about New Regency’s upcoming projects! Currently streaming on Apple TV+ is Steve McQueen’s “Blitz.” We’re also gearing up for Season 2 of Amazon’s “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” starring the brilliant Donald Glover. In the horizon, we have “Prime Target” with Leo Woodall, set to hit Apple TV+ in 2025. And right now, we’re hard at work filming “Man on Fire” for Netflix!
Cordell Broadus, CEO of Death Row Games, has found it effortless to collaborate with New Regency, as they’ve been behind some of his favorite movies. He explains, ‘They get UEFN and its role in the creator economy.’ When designing the Tee Grizzley map, it was crucial for them to depict spaces that resonate emotionally within their culture. This partnership enables them to maintain this authenticity in the Fortnite universe and guarantees cultural representation during IP integration.
New Regency’s chairman and CEO, Yariv Milchan, expressed his delight: “We’re eager to join Death Row Games in this innovative phase of gaming and storytelling. The debut of ‘In Time’ signals the beginning of an extraordinary exploration into immersive storytelling. We’ve long appreciated Snoop’s diverse artistic output, his continuous creative evolution, and hold great esteem for what he and Cordell are constructing at Death Row. This relevant and exhilarating partnership aligns with our values at New Regency.
