A fourth Jumanji movie is officially happening! The first details reveal the main cast will return for this new adventure, which is being described as the last film in the series that started with the 2017 reboot. This time, the story will blend the world of the video game with the real world, promising the most exciting Jumanji experience yet.
The first images from the upcoming Jumanji 4 confirm that Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black will all be back as their beloved characters: Dr. Xander Bravestone, Franklin Finbar, Ruby Roundhouse, and Professor Shelly Oberon. This time, the adventure moves from the jungle to a city, suggesting the game’s characters are now causing trouble in the real world. The movie is scheduled to be released in December 2026, perfect for the holiday season. You can see a sneak peek image below.
Like the other movies in the series, the main actors will once again appear alongside versions of themselves created using motion capture technology. Confirmed returning cast members include Alex Wolff, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, Bebe Neuwirth, Danny DeVito, Lamorne Morris, Marin Hinkle, Nick Jonas, and Rhys Darby. Jake Kasdan is directing the latest film, working from a screenplay he wrote with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg.
Dwayne Johnson Teases Final ‘Jumanji’ Film
Dwayne Johnson recently announced that filming for Jumanji 4 has begun, confirming what fans had anticipated. He shared a video of a table read with almost all of the original cast from the previous two movies, and explained in a post that this will be the last film in the Jumanji series. Johnson also showed off a bracelet featuring a die from the first Jumanji movie, the one starring Robin Williams. Here’s what Johnson wrote in his post:
Okay, so we officially started making the next Jumanji movie today with a table read in Los Angeles – that’s where we’ll be filming the whole thing. It’s going to be a huge, really fun, and surprisingly emotional adventure. Honestly, it feels right that this movie might be the end of the Jumanji story, and we want to go out on a high note. It was incredible getting the whole cast back together – we were literally laughing until our jaws hurt! We all kept saying how much we’ve missed this kind of joyful, silly fun. Now, let’s go make something great.
Sony Pictures has confirmed a fourth Jumanji movie, originally slated for release on December 11, 2026. However, hints suggesting a “Christmas” release and a first-look image imply the film might be pushed back a few weeks to capitalize on the holiday season. Regardless, it will need to avoid clashing with the release of Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, 2026.
