In the film By Design, which debuted at Sundance, Juliette Lewis takes on the role of a woman who undergoes an extraordinary transformation – her body switches with a chair. Given her extensive acting career in Hollywood, this unique event marked a fresh and intriguing experience for her. On their first day of filming, Lewis shared that the team instructed her to assume certain positions, such as “Chair in, chair out. Now you’re the chair…” She found it an exciting and enjoyable debut on set. Co-star Mamoudou Athie, who plays a pianist named Olivier, commented that while the concept might seem awkward initially, they quickly got past any self-consciousness and focused on delivering the story at its core.
