Currently, one of the most exciting and popular anime series is captivating audiences on streaming platforms. Since its premiere in 2020, this dark fantasy action show quickly gained a dedicated fanbase. It’s based on a hugely popular manga by the mysterious creator, Gege Akutami, and features stunning animation, incredible action sequences, and characters with surprising depth. It’s no surprise that Jujutsu Kaisen has become a streaming hit! Though the third season just finished airing, fans are already eager for more.
Even two weeks after the end of Season 3, which covered the “Culling Game” storyline, Jujutsu Kaisen remains incredibly popular on Crunchyroll. As of today, it’s the most-watched series on the platform this week. The top 10 also includes other well-loved shows like Hell’s Paradise, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, and Fire Force. However, this is likely to shift soon with the start of the Spring 2024 anime season, which will bring several new titles, including the eagerly awaited fantasy series, Witch Hat Atelier.
For those unfamiliar, Jujutsu Kaisen is a thrilling dark fantasy series about a world where negative emotions manifest as powerful, monstrous curses. The stronger the fear, the more dangerous the curse. Jujutsu sorcerers are individuals who can harness this cursed energy, using it to fight and protect humanity. The story follows teenager Yuji Itadori, who accidentally consumes a cursed object containing a tremendously powerful curse named Sakuna and is sentenced to death. He’s given a chance to earn a delayed execution by locating and absorbing all of Sakuna’s remaining fingers, with the ultimate goal of destroying the curse forever.
‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ is Part of the New Big Three
For anyone familiar with anime, you’ve likely heard of the original “Big Three”: One Piece, Naruto, and Dragon Ball Z. Some fans also include Bleach, calling them the “Big Four.” However, in recent years, a new group of popular shows has risen to prominence. Often called the “Shōnen Dark Trio,” Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, and Hell’s Paradise all follow the classic shōnen style but add darker themes of fantasy and horror.
While the Chainsaw Man anime is still gaining traction and Hell’s Paradise is a surprising hit, Jujutsu Kaisen has become incredibly popular. Each episode attracts millions of viewers, and the manga consistently tops the New York Times bestseller list.
‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ Season 4 Is In the Works

Similar to what happened with Season 2, the third season of Jujutsu Kaisen is being released in two parts. The first part finished airing in late March, and fans are eagerly awaiting the continuation of the Culling Game. While there’s no confirmed release date yet, based on how long it usually takes between parts, we can expect the second part of the Culling Game to arrive sometime in Summer 2026.
