At CES 2025, it was unlikely anyone anticipated such a display. The innovative accessory developer, Genki, had set up a booth showcasing a mock-up of the Switch 2 and its Joy-Cons. These devices were manufactured by the producer for a console that has not yet been officially announced. A teaser link is available on the official Genki website, suggesting that the only missing piece preventing them from unveiling the complete package might be an official announcement about the Switch 2.
Accessories for Switch 2 at CES 2025
At social media platforms, you can catch a glimpse of a brief video from the CES 2025 fair, put together by Numerama’s editorial team. This video showcases a prototype of the Switch 2, displayed at the Genki booth, with detachable Joy-Cons. As you remove them, you notice expansions on the hinges that keep the controllers in place, though it’s speculated that these won’t be part of the final console design, which is anticipated to employ a magnetic system for attaching the controllers to the device instead.
In partnership with the Genki dummy, the video showcased promotional material highlighting custom controllers developed by the company, specifically tailored for Switch 2. A charging dock for Joy-Cons and additional grips to enhance console handling were also unveiled. If the dummy resembles the original console, then Genki has essentially validated much of the information that had been previously leaked.
At a glance, the console showcased at Genki’s presentation seems to share a resemblance with the one from the company leak in December, both being associated with the accessory-making company. The arrangement of buttons and connectors aligns with the mockups of the Switch 2 that surfaced online in September of the previous year. However, the software of the console remains a puzzle, despite earlier leaks of its components on the motherboard.
Nintendo hasn’t addressed these leaks at all so far. It seems like they might be considering them as an unintentional promotional buzz. The Switch 2 is constantly on gamers’ minds as new leaks surface online each month. Fans are speculating that the official announcement for the console could happen in January, which would put any questions about the device to rest.
