This week’s installment of “The Daily Show” featured Jon Stewart criticizing President Donald Trump’s trade taxes and his intentions to acquire Panama and Greenland.
Stewart began the program by playing a collection of news reports discussing potential new trade conflicts arising from Trump’s tariffs imposed on the European Union, Canada, and Mexico.
Stewart questioned, ‘Are the EU and Canada considered our friends? I can understand Mexico, given Trump’s hostile relationship since his escalator ride at Trump Tower before announcing his presidential campaign in 2015. But Canada? Friendly Canada? Why are we picking a fight with our most dependable and agreeable ally, the golden retriever of allies?’
Later on, Stewart criticized Trump’s statements about reclaiming the Panama Canal and utilizing military action to annex Greenland.

Denmark, Panama, and Canada – we’re talking about America here! Once we battled against the Nazis, now we’re searching worldwide for soft targets,” Stewart humorously said. “Are we like Jake Paul of nations? No disrespect intended. ‘I know China’s out there, but Panama’s a fair match!’
Later on, Stewart showed a video where Trump defended his tariffs by criticizing past trade agreements with Canada. “I take a look at these deals, and I think to myself, ‘Who on earth could have made these deals? They’re terrible,'” Trump was heard saying in the recording.
Stewart next addressed the crowd, “Dear friends, let’s journey together in time, back to the year 2018. The one responsible for that regrettable Canada agreement, I present before you.
In 2018, a news segment aired showing Trump signing a fresh trade agreement, intended to replace NAFTA alongside leaders from Mexico and Canada. This was intercut with Trump’s statement, boasting that this transaction represented “the greatest trade deal in history.
“Oh! A deal done by Trump’s greatest nemesis: “Trump,” Stewart joked.
Stewart noted that Mexico was granted a 30-day reprieve from tariffs following their pledge of deploying 10,000 soldiers to the border. Additionally, he pointed out that Trump postponed the Canadian tariffs on Monday after urgent talks with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
