There’s nothing quite like pairing a spicy sausage with a cold soda, and Johnsonville is now taking that combination a step further by creating sausage that’s actually flavored like Dr Pepper.
2025 has seen a lot of unusual food pairings, and Dr Pepper is joining the trend with a new collaboration: Dippin’ Dots ice cream that tastes like the soda.
The new ice cream flavor might sound good, but the soda is taking a surprising turn with a salty twist – and they’re teaming up with Johnsonville to make it happen.
Okay, so I just saw this crazy news on Instagram from a food insider called ‘Snackolator’. Apparently, Dr Pepper and a sausage company are teaming up to make… Dr Pepper flavored sausage! And it sounds like it’s hitting stores really soon. Seriously, Dr Pepper sausage – who saw that coming?
Dr Pepper sausage leaves soda fans shocked
Okay, so I just heard about this – apparently, Snackolator reported that they’re making a Dr Pepper flavored sausage! They showed it off at the NACS show, and from what I understand, the Dr Pepper flavor is supposed to be in the whole sausage, not just some kind of topping. Wild!
The blogger said they heard the new sausage would be available at convenience stores initially, with wider retail availability following soon after.
As such, it sounds like fans should expect to find it at 7-Eleven, Circle K, or Kum & Go locations.

Customers had very mixed reactions – some were enthusiastic and eager to try it, while others were completely shocked and opposed to it.
“We are losing touch as a society,” one remarked.
Someone from Texas added, “I love Dr Pepper as a drink, but the Dr Pepper barbecue sauce, cotton candy flavor, and jerky are all terrible. I don’t think these new flavors will be any different.”
Not everyone was down on the idea, though. Some were highly optimistic.
“Chilies used to have Dr Pepper baby back ribs they were delicious,” another argued.
“I hope it has a kick to it too! If not, have it with a spicy mustard,” a fan exclaimed.
This isn’t the first strange food combination to be announced lately. In September, KFC revealed they were creating jelly beans flavored like fried chicken, corn, and gravy.
