Lionsgate is planning to enter the high-end video game market, and they’re starting with games based on their most popular movie and TV series.
As a huge movie and gaming fan, I’ve definitely noticed more and more film studios getting into game development lately, and it’s been impossible to miss! The success of games like Hogwarts Legacy really proves that when you take a beloved movie world and turn it into a big, well-made game, it can be a massive hit with players.
Marvel has a lot of exciting projects in development. Warner Bros., on the other hand, has been focusing on creating games based on well-known franchises like DC Comics and Lord of the Rings for several years. This strategy – expanding a brand’s reach with big video games – is becoming more and more popular. Now, Lionsgate seems to be following suit, with plans for games based on two of their biggest franchises.
Lionsgate teases AAA John Wick and Saw games
The studio announced on its recent earnings call that it’s considering making big-budget, high-quality games based on the popular Saw and John Wick franchises.

During an earnings call, Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group Chairman, Adam Fogelson, discussed the company’s gaming plans. He stated they are seeing growing interest and potential in AAA game opportunities related to franchises like John Wick and Saw, with more announcements coming soon, and that development remains on track.
As a huge fan, I’m getting really excited! It sounds like they’re working on a bunch of games, and it looks like we’ll see John Wick and Saw games first – those are massive franchises for Lionsgate, so that makes sense. Plus, they’ve hinted that announcements are coming very soon, so hopefully we’ll get some official news about these upcoming games pretty quickly!
While details about the games themselves – like what they’ll be like, who’s making them, or what systems they’ll be on – haven’t been announced, the fact that both franchises were mentioned suggests Lionsgate will soon be revealing its first major game titles. It’s currently unknown if the games will feature actors from the movies, like Keanu Reeves in Cyberpunk 2077, or if players will actually get to play as the main characters from either series.
