John Mulaney’s Netflix Talk Show Sets Release Date: ‘Not Since Harry and Meghan Has Netflix Given More Money to Someone Without a Specific Plan’

The upcoming Netflix talk show from John Mulaney has been officially titled “Everybody’s Live With John Mulaney” and is scheduled to debut on March 12th. This live show will be broadcasted every week for a total of 12 episodes, as announced during Netflix’s presentation for media professionals.

Mulaney stated to the media, ‘Our broadcast will be simultaneous worldwide without a second’s lag.’ He emphasized, ‘We will never matter in terms of relevance, nor serve as your news provider. We will consistently take risks. Moreover, we will disregard any data Netflix supplies us.’

The show ‘Everybody’s Live’ is a spin-off of ‘John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s In LA,’ which was broadcasted during the Netflix Is a Joke Festival last May, over six days. Richard Kind played Mulaney’s sidekick and announcer in that series, and he will reprise his role for ‘Everybody’s Live.’ Additionally, the robot delivery cart named Saymo will also return.”

Mulaney mentioned that this could be the spot where Arnold Schwarzenegger, Nikki Glaser, and a family therapist might all be seated together, accompanied by music from Mannequin Pussy. This is just a small taste of the guests we have planned. As for Mannequin Pussy, while we can’t guarantee they’ll join us yet, we are actively negotiating with them.

Netflix is broadening its live programming by introducing ‘Everybody’s Live,’ which has featured events such as the “Roast of Tom Brady,” stand-up comedy from Chris Rock, Joe Rogan, live WWE Raw shows, the Jake Paul/Mike Tyson fight, and a series of NFL games on Christmas day.

Mulaney expressed his belief that this program will capture the attention of viewers, particularly during live broadcasts. A host dressed in formal attire will field calls from viewers. In essence, this is a nod to traditional television, as Netflix aims to celebrate the 20th century. While there’s nothing groundbreaking about my approach, by arranging familiar elements in an unconventional order, it feels fresh, and that’s what truly matters.

Discussions at Netflix have proven to be a tricky territory in the past, as shows hosted by personalities such as Hasan Minhaj haven’t managed to garner significant interest. However, the executives remain optimistic that “Everybody’s Live” will transform into a weekly event not to be missed.

Mulaney expressed his excitement about continuing the show over the summer with Netflix, stating that it was an enjoyable experience. He added that neither he nor Netflix necessarily needed to produce this show, but it was just the right opportunity. Previously, Mulaney had no intention of hosting a talk show and Netflix was leaving the genre, making this collaboration ideal. If their program can achieve even one-tenth of the popularity of any Korean production on Netflix, Mulaney believes it will become the most successful talk show in history.

Mulaney’s role encompasses hosting duties, shared leadership, and executive production for the show under his company, Multiple Camera Productions.

He also mentioned, “This is an incredibly enjoyable project we’re working on.” He noted that, just like with Harry and Meghan, Netflix hasn’t invested this much money in someone without a clear strategy.
