Jimmy Kimmel returns to ABC after suspension for Charlie Kirk comments

Jimmy Kimmel will return to hosting his late-night show just days after ABC temporarily removed him following controversial remarks about a threat made against podcast host Charlie Kirk.

On September 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk, known for his podcast and political commentary, was fatally shot in the neck while on his ‘American Comeback Tour’ at Utah Valley University.

Tyler Robinson, 22, has been arrested for the shooting and could face the death penalty if convicted.

On his show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, five days after the event, Kimmel talked about how supporters of Donald Trump, or the “MAGA gang,” were trying to distance themselves from the person who attacked Charlie Kirk. He criticized them for attempting to use the situation to gain a political advantage.

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr objected to a comment that seemed to connect Deion Sanders to being a supporter of Donald Trump’s MAGA movement.
