The November 6th episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! was unexpectedly canceled, and now we know why. Kimmel and his show faced a brief removal from the air after the government pressured them due to comments made about the person who attacked Charlie Kirk. Disney brought Kimmel back on air, and the show’s viewership significantly increased as a result.
Jimmy Kimmel’s show was unexpectedly canceled again, this time for the episode planned for November 6th. Initially, ABC didn’t explain the cancellation, but sources are now reporting it was due to a personal issue Kimmel is dealing with, according to Deadline.
The audience was told the show taping was simply rescheduled, and they’d be able to come to a future taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live.
I was so bummed to hear that Madison Beer had to postpone her performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! She posted on Instagram saying the show needed to reschedule due to something unexpected coming up. She promised to let us know what’s going on and when she’ll be back on the show soon, and I’m really hoping it’s not long before she gets to perform!
Something unexpected came up, so my appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight has been postponed. I’ll let you know when it’s rescheduled – I’m really excited for you all to see it!
The episode, which has been postponed, was originally set to feature actor David Duchovny (known for Malice) and Joe Keery from Stranger Things season 5. It’s currently unknown if they will appear on a rescheduled date, and neither actor has commented publicly about the postponement.
On November 6th, Jimmy Kimmel Live! aired a rerun featuring guests Tessa Thompson from Hedda, Daymond John from Shark Tank, and a musical performance by The Beths.
We haven’t received any updates about shows next week, but you can still request tickets through 1iota, the site that manages tickets for many TV programs. If Jimmy Kimmel returns on Monday, the show will feature interviews with George Clooney, Mike Tyson, Eddie Murphy, Morgan Fairchild, Jason Bateman, and Mr. T throughout the week.
Jimmy Kimmel’s contract with the show runs until May 2026, and he’s hinted at retirement in recent years. Having started Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2003, he’s currently the longest-serving late-night talk show host.
Now that Kimmel is back on the air after his break, he may be more committed to continuing with the show, but he and ABC probably won’t make a final decision for a few months.
After what happened before, I definitely wondered if this week’s show being cancelled was related to another problem. But honestly, all we’ve heard is that the host is dealing with a “personal matter,” and that’s all anyone knows right now.
He’s dealing with a personal matter, possibly a family health issue or a loss, and deserves privacy right now. We’ll find out on Monday’s show if he chooses to share what happened during his one-day break.
Jimmy Kimmel Live airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. EST on ABC.
