It has been announced that ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ will not air on Wednesday evening due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles, which started on Tuesday. This decision was confirmed by EbMaster. Originally scheduled for Wednesday were guests Cynthia Erivo (‘Wicked’), Brian Jordan Alvarez (‘English Teacher’) and musical guest Victoria Canal. If ‘JKL’ is also cancelled on Thursday, the planned guests are Timothée Chalamet (‘A Complete Unknown’) and The Lumineers as the musical act.
Due to the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires, CBS has postponed filming “After Midnight,” hosted by Taylor Tomlinson, for the rest of this week. Instead, previously recorded episodes will air on Wednesday and Thursday. Originally, a rerun was planned for Friday as well. The lineup for this week’s shows included comedians Heather McMahan and Zach Noe Towers, along with actor-reality star Lisa Rinna on Wednesday, and comics Dustin Nickerson, Russell Howard, and Aparna Nancherla on Thursday. However, these episodes will now be rescheduled for a later date.
On Tuesday morning, strong winds swept through the city, sparking a swift wildfire in Pacific Palisades that consumed homes, businesses, and schools within hours. With the winds persisting and forecasted to last until Wednesday evening, firefighters have been unable to contain the blaze. In the afternoon, another fire, named Eaton Fire, ignited in Altadena, causing further damage there and spreading to Pasadena. The Hurst Fire also erupted later in the San Fernando Valley on the same day. As a result, all of Los Angeles County is now on high alert for additional fires and evacuations. California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency on Tuesday.
Due to the fires, numerous events in the entertainment industry have been called off. For instance, the releases of movies like “Unstoppable”, “Wolf Man”, and “Better Man” were postponed, along with the premiere for the TV series “The Pitt”. Even the SAG Award nominations were sent via email instead of being presented in person. Universal Studios has also closed down. The planned premiere for “The Last Showgirl” at the Chinese Theatre Multiplex in Hollywood has been canceled, and the BAFTA Tea event scheduled for this weekend has been called off as well. Filming on movies and TV shows has come to a halt across the board, and there’s uncertainty about whether the Critics Choice Awards ceremony, slated for Jan. 12 in Santa Monica, will take place.
