Jill Jacobson, ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ and ‘Falcon Crest’ Actress, Dies at 70

Jill Jacobson, an actress famed for her roles in TV series like “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and prime-time drama “Falcon Crest,” passed away on December 8 in Los Angeles. She was 70 years old.

Daniel Harary, a close friend and publicist, verified to EbMaster that the actress, Jacobson, had passed away following a prolonged struggle with an illness.

Following her graduation from the University of Texas, Austin, Jacobson relocated to Los Angeles to launch her acting career. She first appeared in the lead role of “Nurse Sherri,” and subsequently starred in “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” “Days of Our Lives,” “Hung,” “Newhart,” “Castle” and “Who’s the Boss?.

Simultaneously, she took on dual roles: Erin Jones in “Falcon Crest” and Larue Wilson in “The New Gidget”. In total, Jacobson was featured in 22 episodes of “Falcon Crest” and eight episodes of “The New Gidget”.

Caryn Richman, who starred alongside Jill Jacobson in “New Gidget”, commented on her dear friend’s demise, stating, “Jill had a remarkable knack for comedy, and her zest and passion for life turned our filming experience into a source of happiness.

Besides “Designing Women,” Jacobson has appeared on various TV shows such as “Crazy Like a Fox,” “Quantum Leap,” “Arliss” and “Murphy Brown.” In the film world, she’s been seen in productions like Ron Howard’s “Splash,” “Bad Georgia Road,” “Forbidden Love” and “Baby Sister.” Additionally, she has graced numerous stages and made a name for herself with stand-up comedy performances at LA’s The Improv and The Comedy Store.

Beyond her career in entertainment, Jacobson also served as a volunteer spokesperson for the American Cancer Society in her free time.
