The long-running medical drama *Grey’s Anatomy* is likely to return for a 22nd season, but one of its former stars is already finding success elsewhere. Jesse Williams, known for playing Dr. Jackson Avery in over 250 episodes of the show, now leads a popular action series streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
The new series *Hotel Costiera* released all six of its first-season episodes on Prime Video on September 24th. John Williams plays Daniel De Luca, a former Marine who now solves problems for a high-end hotel. According to FlixPatrol, the show is currently the fourth most popular TV series on Prime Video, following *Gen V*, *The Summer I Turned Pretty*, and *The Terminal List: Dark Wolf*. Critics generally like the show, giving it an 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but audience opinions are more mixed, with a viewer score of 50%.
The new six-part series, *Hotel Costiera*, follows Daniel (known as DD) as he starts a job at a luxurious hotel on Italy’s Amalfi Coast. He’s immediately given a crucial mission: find the hotel owner’s missing daughter, Alice, and bring her home. All this happens while he’s also managing the demands of some difficult guests. Created by Francesco Arlanch and Elena Bucaccio, the show features Jordan Alexandra, Maria Chiara Giannetta, Antonio Gerardi, Sam Haygarth, Tomaso Ragno, Amanda Campana, and Pierpaolo Spoloon, and combines standalone episodes with the overarching mystery of Alice’s disappearance.
Williams is Hoping for a Second Season
Amazon Prime Video hasn’t confirmed a second season of *Hotel Costiera* yet, but the show’s creator, Williams, is hopeful. He believes there’s plenty of material from the first season that could be used to develop future storylines if Amazon decides to renew the series.
Amidst everything happening in the world, we aimed to create something uplifting and escapist,” Williams explained to TV Insider. “It’s a six-episode series you can watch whenever you have time, making it easy to binge. It’s a fun project with plenty of action, and if viewers enjoy it as much as we do, we’re eager to continue the story.
I’ve been following this show for years, and I remember when this actor became a main cast member towards the end of Season 17. While he wasn’t a series regular after that, it was great to see him pop up in guest roles during Seasons 18, 19, and even Season 21. Now, Season 22 is almost here – it’s premiering on ABC on October 9th, and I’m already excited to see what happens!
The new season picks up right after the explosive finale of Season 21. Doctors are desperately trying to locate each other and their patients amidst the chaos. Last season ended with a hostage situation: Piper Perabo’s character, Jenna Gatlin, took control of the hospital with a dangerous amount of flammable gas, making the doctors prioritize her daughter’s critical surgery over all others.
I’m so excited to share that you can now watch Jonathan Rhys Meyers in *Hotel Costiera*! All six episodes of the first season are available to stream on Prime Video, and I highly recommend checking it out.
