Durability expert JerryRigEverything recently tested Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Trifold, the company’s latest foldable phone, using his standard toughness tests.
Samsung’s newest device is its most ambitious foldable yet, boasting a unique triple-folding design with two hinges and a 10-inch screen. However, it was also the first Samsung phone to break during a popular YouTuber’s durability test.
In his durability test, JerryRigEverything found the Galaxy Z Trifold felt surprisingly delicate. The phone displayed numerous warnings even before he could fully access the operating system.
The warnings advised users not to press too firmly on the screen, explained that the phone wasn’t dustproof, and provided instructions for folding it correctly to prevent damage.
Bend test ends in failure
The Galaxy Z Trifold has an IP48 rating, which means it’s somewhat protected against dust and can withstand brief exposure to water. However, testing revealed that fine dust easily entered the phone’s hinge, causing a grinding noise and visible dirt buildup near the internal magnets.
The phone proved to be quite fragile during a durability test where pressure was applied. The extremely thin aluminum frame bent and warped permanently, damaging the device and revealing parts inside. This was the first time a Samsung phone had broken during this particular test conducted by JerryRigEverything.

Okay, so the hinges actually held up, which was surprising! But the frame itself just…split. It gave way right along where the antennas are, and honestly, it wasn’t much of a fight because the phone is super thin – only 3.9mm at its slimmest. After that, the whole folding thing basically fell apart, so I had to call the durability test there. It was structurally unsound, plain and simple.
Although this is the first time a Samsung foldable has failed this test, other foldable phones have had similar issues. Back in October, a Google Pixel Fold broke during a durability test by the YouTuber JerryRigEverything, even resulting in the phone malfunctioning spectacularly on his workbench.
