Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May Get Sentimental in Trailer for ‘The Grand Tour’ Finale

As a cinephile who has followed the adventures of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May since their days on Top Gear, I must admit that I feel a bittersweet mix of emotions as I watch the trailer for “The Grand Tour: One for the Road”. Having grown up with these three men, their camaraderie, wit, and love for all things automotive has been a constant source of entertainment and inspiration.

Get your tissues handy, “The Grand Tour” enthusiasts! The final episode is shaping up to be an emotional rollercoaster.

Amazon’s Prime Video unveiled a nearly 3-minute preview for the concluding installment titled “The Grand Tour: One for the Road.” This episode finds hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May embarking on an epic journey to Zimbabwe, marking what is advertised as their final episode together.

Preparing for the grand unveiling on September 13th, I’ve taken up the role as a guide in our own heartfelt journey, echoing Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart.” The sneak peek promises an exhilarating blend of crocodile encounters, capsizing vessels, and a delightful dash of nostalgia.

In a particular moment, Hammond remarks, “I never imagined our collaborations would last this long,” while May is astounded by their enduring partnership, saying, “We’ve been working together for 22 years!”

In 2002, Clarkson, Hammond, and May began their collaboration on the BBC’s automotive series “Top Gear.” However, when Clarkson was dismissed from the show following an incident involving a punch thrown at a producer, his fellow hosts departed in support. Later, in 2016, this trio found themselves working together once more, this time for Amazon Prime Video on another motoring program called “The Grand Tour.” This new show shared the same humorous style and automotive focus as their previous one.

“Clakson acknowledges that he’ll undoubtedly find it hard not to engage in activities like these,” he says, speeding along a road in Zimbabwe (trailer).

In the recap for the upcoming special, Prime Video hints: “Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May disregard Mr. Wilman’s instructions and embark on their final adventure in three dream cars – a Lancia Montecarlo, a Ford Capri 3-liter, and a Triumph Stag. They journey through breathtaking and occasionally tough terrains, culminating in an emotional finale on an unexpected island reminiscent of a familiar place.”

In one instance shown in the preview, the trio can be seen attempting to fix a seemingly abandoned vehicle. At this point, Hammond jokingly remarks, “Don’t we all need to move into the same retirement home now? I mean, is it mandatory after this?”

Clarkson, pointing towards May, jokes, “He’s planning to erase our contact details once we wrap up!” or “Clarkson, indicating at May, playfully says, ‘He’s going to delete our phone numbers after we’re done!'”
