As a cinephile who’s seen my fair share of films (and aliens), I must admit I was taken aback by the casting news for the upcoming “The Mandalorian & Grogu” film. Jeremy Allen White, known for his gritty performances on shows like “Shameless,” is stepping into the slimy shoes of Rotta the Hutt, Jabba’s adorable offspring.
It appears that Jeremy Allen White will voice Jabba the Hutt’s son, Rotta the Hutt, in an upcoming film titled “The Mandalorian & Grogu“. While Rotta may initially appear as a slimy and potentially frightening CGI character, he has been described as adorable, earning nicknames such as “Punky Muffin” and “Stinky”. Despite his slimey appearance, Rotta resembles a little green ghost reminiscent of characters from Super Mario Bros. The film is set to release on May 22, 2026, so fans will have to wait for White’s performance. In the meantime, it seems that Rotta may face competition for the title of cutest original character offspring in the movie, as Grogu, another beloved character from the same franchise, is also present.
