Jennifer Lopez rang in the New Year performing at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. It was the second night of her Up All Night residency, and during the show, she shared some personal advice she received after a divorce. This came after a touching moment with her children on stage.
This new show feels particularly meaningful for Jennifer Lopez, as she previously had a long-term performance residency in Las Vegas starting in 2016, shortly after her divorce from Marc Anthony. Given that her recent split from Ben Affleck was finalized in August 2024, many are noticing the similarities. Here’s what Lopez shared with the Las Vegas audience on New Year’s Eve:
I didn’t really start dancing seriously until after my third divorce. I was at a point where I was ready to quit on life altogether. Things were chaotic – I was suddenly a single mom to three-year-old twins.
Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony announced their separation back in 2011 after being married for seven years. Their divorce was finalized in June 2014. As Lopez recalled in an on-stage speech (per JLo’s Instagram), things really started to click for her regarding dancing following her split from Anthony. As she continued:
I remember my mentor, Louise Hay, asking me, ‘You’re a dancer, aren’t you?’ I confirmed that I was. She then asked what I did when I messed up the steps while learning a dance. I explained that I just kept practicing until I got them right. Louise smiled and said, ‘That’s all there is to it, Jennifer. Just keep dancing.’
Dancing offers more than just technical skill – it can teach valuable life lessons. Motivational author and speaker Louise Hay apparently helped Jennifer Lopez apply the discipline and resilience she learned through dance to overcome personal difficulties after her divorce. As Jennifer Lopez explained to her fans:
I hope the same for you – that no matter what challenges life brings, you find joy and keep dancing through them, always and always.
Jennifer Lopez shared some inspiring words as she entered 2026! She reminded everyone that tough times often lead to valuable growth and learning, and it was wonderful to see her share this message during her New Year’s Eve performance. She also described this period of her life as a “happy era,” especially as she begins her Las Vegas residency, which will run through March 2026.
Jennifer Lopez recently returned to touring with her THIS IS ME… LIVE show after postponing it when she and Ben Affleck separated in 2024. She also starred in the well-received film, Kiss Of The Spiderwoman. While the movie wasn’t a box office success and she didn’t receive Golden Globe recognition in 2026, reports suggest she quickly moved on to her next project without dwelling on the outcome.
Jennifer Lopez has finished filming a funny and romantic comedy with Brett Goldstein, and it’s expected to be released on Netflix in 2026. It seems JLo is continuing to follow her own advice and stay active, and her energy is inspiring us as we look ahead to the new year.
