As a movie fan, I love a good comeback story! Jennifer Lawrence jokingly calls her new film “total revenge” – it’s her way of getting back at missing out on the Twilight saga almost 20 years ago. It’s fun to hear how things could have been so different!
Jennifer Lawrence jokingly called her new film, Die, My Love, “total revenge” after missing the chance to star with Robert Pattinson in the 2008 movie Twilight. She said this while speaking with Variety on a red carpet.
When asked about working with Robert Pattinson on Die, My Love, Jennifer Lawrence said her favorite part was their ability to comfortably share a space without needing to talk for extended periods. She explained that she greatly values that quality in a colleague.
Jennifer Lawrence tried out for the part of Bella Swan in the 2008 movie Twilight, but Kristen Stewart ended up getting the role. Lawrence revealed in a 2023 podcast called The Rewatchables that the studio rejected her almost instantly and didn’t even ask her to come back for another audition.
I remember when Jennifer Lawrence didn’t get the lead in a big YA movie series at first, but she quickly proved everyone wrong! Just four years later, she landed the role of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, and it completely changed things for her. She played Katniss three more times in Catching Fire, Mockingjay – Part 1, and Mockingjay – Part 2. While the series has kept going with new movies like Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and another one planned for 2026, sadly, Jennifer wasn’t involved in those. Still, those original films were amazing and really showed off her talent!
I’m really excited about Jennifer Lawrence’s next project! She’s starring alongside Robert Pattinson in a film called Die, My Love, directed by Lynne Ramsay. It’s about a young couple, Grace and Jackson, who leave New York City for Pattinson’s character’s hometown in Montana, hoping for a quieter life. But things don’t quite go as planned – Grace starts struggling emotionally, and the isolation really puts a strain on their relationship. The movie also has an amazing supporting cast, including LaKeith Stanfield, Sissy Spacek, Gabrielle Rose, Sarah Lind, and even Nick Nolte! It sounds like it’s going to be a powerful and gripping story.
Is Die, My Love Worth the Watch?
Critics generally praised the film Die, My Love after its debut at the Cannes Film Festival in May. Currently, it has an 80% “Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 66 reviews. While some critics noted issues with the film’s consistency and how well its ideas came across, most agreed that Die, My Love is a wild and often intense success.
