The director recently shared a photo from the set showing the actor grinning – a surprisingly cheerful sight for the typically tough star. Filming for the sequel began last month, and it’s expected to be released in 2026.

Jason Statham shared a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming film The Beekeeper 2 on Instagram, alongside director Timo Tjahjanto. They’re promising another action-packed thriller following the success of last year’s The Beekeeper. The sequel introduces Statham as a secretive assassin on a revenge mission that leads him right to the White House. With the first film setting the stage, The Beekeeper 2 has the potential to be a truly thrilling and exciting action movie. Statham simply captioned the photo, “Round 2 #Beekeeper2,” and you can see the new image of them filming below.

Although the story of The Beekeeper 2 is still a secret, director Timo Tjahjanto told MovieWeb the sequel will be heavily influenced by anime and manga. He described Jason Statham’s character, Adam Clay—a retired assassin—as being similar to a character guided by the Bushido code.

Let me tell you, the villains in Beekeeper 2 are something else. They really lean into the over-the-top, almost anime-inspired style – think dynamic action straight out of manga. I was talking with Jason, and we really wanted to create a protagonist who’d been through hell, someone driven purely by his unwavering principles. He’s a bit of a modern-day samurai, a man of honor out of time, and Jason really understood that. That’s what fuels him, what keeps him fighting. It’s a mindset I love – it reminds me of a comic I always enjoyed, which basically said, ‘even if you have to face God himself, don’t hesitate to take him down.’

Details about the story of The Beekeeper 2 are still secret, but the new cast members are exciting action movie fans. Pom Klementieff, famous for her roles in Guardians of the Galaxy, The Avengers, and Mission: Impossible, and Adam Copeland, a professional wrestler and actor known from Percy Jackson and the Olympians, will join Jason Statham in the sequel. While we don’t know who they’ll be playing yet, many believe they’ll be fellow members of the mysterious “Beekeepers” organization.

Season 2 of The Beekeeper will see the return of Emmy Raver-Lampman and Bobby Naderi as FBI agents Verona Parker and Matt Wiley. Jemma Redgrave will reprise her role as the President of the United States, Jessica Danforth, alongside Jeremy Irons as the villain Wallace Westwyld. Joining the cast is Yara Shahidi, known from Black-ish and Peter Pan & Wendy, though her role is currently being kept secret.
