Jason Segel, Samara Weaving, Timothy Olyphant and Juliette Lewis to Star in Jorma Taccone’s Thriller ‘The Trip’

As a cinephile who appreciates the intricate blend of suspense and dark humor, I am absolutely thrilled by the stellar cast and creative team assembled for “The Trip.” Jason Segel, Samara Weaving, Timothy Olyphant, Juliette Lewis, Paul Guilfoyle, and former UFC star Keith Jardine – what a powerhouse lineup!

Actors Jason Segel, Samara Weaving, Timothy Olyphant, and Juliette Lewis have agreed to take on leading roles for the upcoming thriller “The Trip.” This film will be directed by Jorma Taccone, a former Saturday Night Live cast member and member of The Lonely Island comedy group (“Pop Star: Never Stopping,” “MacGruber”).

Paul Guilfoyle (“LA Confidential”) and ex-UFC star Keith Jardine (“Inherent Vice”) will also feature in the movie, which is financed and produced by XYZ, in collaboration with Kelly McCormick (“The Fall Guy,” “Bullet Train,” “Nobody”), Lee Kim (“Dual,” “Get Away”), and Guy Danella (“Violent Night,” “Love Hurts“). In addition, Taccone and Tommy Wirkola are serving as executive producers, with Karen Gillan co-producing.

The currently being filmed movie in Finland features a troubled pair, played by Segel and Weaving, venturing to a secluded cabin under the pretense of rekindling their relationship. However, both characters harbor hidden intentions to end the other’s life.

The screenplay for this project was reworked by Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney, based on the Norwegian suspense film “I Onde Dager” originally created by Wirkola. This movie featured Noomi Rapace and Aksel Hennie, with Wirkola, John Niven, and Nick Ball as its writers. “I Onde Dager” was produced by Jørgen Storm Rosenberg and Kjetil Omberg under 74 Entertainment, and financed jointly by XYZ and IPR.VC. In addition to their production roles, Rosenberg and Omberg are also taking on executive producer duties for “The Trip.

As a film enthusiast, I am thrilled at the prospect of Jorma’s unique artistic touch gracing the material. With such an exceptional ensemble cast, I am positively bursting with anticipation that this movie will undeniably make a striking impact on the cinematic panorama.

Taccone expressed his enthusiasm for Tommy’s work and the original movie by saying, “I’ve always been a big fan, and I can’t get enough of it! My creative approach is unique, and I can’t wait to share my vision for this project.

The shooting for “The Trip” is happening in Tampere, Finland, backed by production incentives from Business Finland, the City of Tampere, and Film Tampere. Meanwhile, Films Films Films is handling the production services.
