Zack Snyder recently revealed a new photo of Jason Momoa as Aquaman. The character first appeared briefly in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and then had a larger role in Justice League and its director’s cut, helping to defeat Steppenwolf. Since then, Aquaman has starred in his own films, Aquaman and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and made quick appearances in Peacemaker and The Flash.

The experienced director recently shared two pictures online. One of them features Jason Momoa dressed as Aquaman while filming Justice League. He’s holding a guitar and has a serious, slightly tough look on his face.
Another photo shows Ezra Miller in his Flash costume, standing next to a large image of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Zack Snyder shared the post on Instagram with the caption, “2 more from 2016.”
Of the original Justice League cast, Jason Momoa is the only actor currently confirmed to continue in James Gunn’s new DC Universe. He will be playing the character Lobo, a Czarnian mercenary and bounty hunter.
Jason Momoa will first appear as Lobo in the upcoming Supergirl movie, which hits theaters on June 26, 2026. He’ll play one of the film’s main villains, working alongside Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills.
Jason Momoa really wanted to play Lobo! Before he became Aquaman, he actually thought he’d been cast as Lobo in the DC Universe. He shared in an interview with Fandango while promoting the latest Aquaman movie that he’d hoped to take on the role multiple times.
In a recent interview, Jason Momoa shared that he actually preferred the role of Lobo over Aquaman, describing Lobo as his “ultimate dream” role.
It’s currently unknown what Jason Momoa’s Lobo will do in the new DC Universe after being introduced in Supergirl. However, James Gunn seems impressed with Momoa’s performance, and Gunn has hinted there might be a future solo project for the character.
