Jason Momoa & Dave Bautista’s New R-Rated Action Movie Debuts To Impressive Rotten Tomatoes Score Before Hitting Prime Video

Prime Video’s new action movie, The Wrecking Crew, starring Jason Momoa (from Game of Thrones) and Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), is getting positive buzz according to its Rotten Tomatoes score. The R-rated film will be available to stream on January 28th.

Critics are starting to review The Wrecking Crew just before it arrives on Prime Video, and the early reviews on Rotten Tomatoes give it an 80% fresh rating.

Critics are loving the chemistry and humor between Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista. While the movie’s story isn’t particularly original, it’s being described as a fun and enjoyable guilty pleasure.

In the movie The Wrecking Crew, Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista play half-brothers—a police officer named Jonny Hale and a Navy SEAL named James Hale—who investigate the suspicious death of their father. Initially believed to be a simple hit-and-run accident, they soon realize there’s more to the story.

As they journey forward, the family stumbles upon surprising and disturbing secrets that push their relationships to the limit, even as they struggle to resolve their own conflicts.

Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista are joined by Claes Bang, Temuera Morrison, Jacob Batalon, Stephen Root, Morena Baccarin, Frankie Adams, Miyavi, Maia Kealoha, Lydia Peckham, and Stephen Oyoung in their new film, Wrecking Crew.

Ángel Manuel Soto, who directed Blue Beetle, also directed the Prime Video film. The screenplay was written by Jonathan Tropper, known for his work on The Adam Project, See, Your Friends and Neighbors, and the forthcoming Star Wars: Starfighter.

Jason Momoa is known for his roles in popular movies and TV shows like Game of Thrones, Aquaman, Dune, Fast X, A Minecraft Movie, and Chief of War.

I’ve been following Dave Bautista’s career since his wrestling days with the WWE, but I’m really impressed with how he’s transitioned into acting. He’s built up a fantastic filmography, appearing in everything from action flicks like Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption and Army of the Dead, to huge blockbusters like Guardians of the Galaxy and Dune. And he’s shown real range with roles in films like the visually stunning Blade Runner 2049, the quirky Hotel Artemis, the family-friendly My Spy, and even the clever mystery Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. It’s been a joy to watch him evolve as an actor.

The actors both appeared in the Apple TV+ sci-fi series See, which is set in a world where people are blind. They also played roles in the film Dune – one as Duncan Idaho and the other as Glossu Rabban.

Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista are teaming up for a new Prime Video movie called The Wrecking Crew, filmed on location in Hawaii and New Zealand. The trailer suggests a fun, action-filled adventure packed with fighting, explosions, car chases, and humor.

Director Soto has expressed interest in making a sequel to The Wrecking Crew if the first film does well. Early reviews on Rotten Tomatoes are positive, and if audiences respond with similar enthusiasm, Soto might get the chance to direct it.

The Wrecking Crew will be released on Wednesday, January 28 on Prime Video.
