Jamie Lee Curtis Tears Up Over L.A. Fires on ‘The Tonight Show’: ‘Where I Live Is on Fire Right Now’ and ‘It’s F—ing Gnarly’

On “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” last night, Jamie Lee Curtis became visibly moved as she discussed the heartbreaking destruction caused by the numerous wildfires burning in and around Los Angeles.

This afternoon, the Oscar-winning actress, who recently received a SAG supporting actress nomination for her role in “The Last Showgirl,” posted on Instagram about the potential threat of losing her house in the Pacific Palisades wildfire. She wrote, “My neighborhood and potentially my home is ablaze.” However, she later reassured her followers that her house was still safe.

On Tuesday evening, as the fires in Pacific Palisades intensified, Curtis was en route to New York for her “Tonight Show” appearance. She informed Fallon that her current residence was ablaze and that the entire city of Pacific Palisades was on fire. “I boarded a plane last night,” she said, “and started receiving texts about the situation. It’s really bad, folks. It’s a disaster unfolding in Southern California.”

Tuesday night saw worsening fires in Pacific Palisades, with Curtis flying to New York for her “Tonight Show” appearance. She shared with Fallon that her home was currently on fire and the entire city of Pacific Palisades was ablaze. “I got on a plane last night,” she said, “and I started receiving texts about the situation. It’s terrible, it’s just a catastrophe happening in Southern California.

Curtis admitted that “there have been terrible fires in numerous locations,” but emphasized, “this is my actual residence.

Curtis went on, her voice trembling, ‘Every aspect of our lives: the places I buy groceries, the schools where my children learn, they’ve all been impacted. Sadly, countless friends of mine have now lost their homes, making this a truly terrible predicament.

As a dedicated movie critic, I eagerly look forward to returning home immediately on Thursday, a day that cannot arrive soon enough. I yearn to reunite with my loved ones and offer any assistance I can to my friends who are currently in need. In the spirit of giving back, I’ve taken it upon myself to share some practical ways for “The Tonight Show” audience to contribute to this noble cause. One such option is making a donation to the American Red Cross, an organization I am proudly associated with as an ambassador.

Take every opportunity to lend a hand within your community, regardless of whether it directly benefits you now. Donate blood, contribute to charities like animal shelters, and whatever actions you can take, make them count. Furthermore, as I’m currently involved in a significant TV production, I urge everyone, no matter where you reside, to have an emergency kit readily available at home.
