James Woods Remembers Rob Reiner and Takes a Swipe at President Trump

Hollywood, generally supportive of the Democratic party, reacted with strong disapproval to the president’s remarks about the passing of director Rob Reiner. Surprisingly, even some of the president’s most ardent supporters, like actor Woody Harrelson, have criticized him. Harrelson, who has frequently voiced support for Trump, made it clear that the president went too far this time, especially considering his friendship with Reiner and his wife.

Woody Harrelson spoke fondly of director Rob Reiner on Fox News, becoming visibly moved while recalling how Reiner helped revitalize his career and life when he was struggling. Harrelson starred in Reiner’s 1996 film, Ghosts of Mississippi.

Rob completely turned my career around. He went to bat for me with a studio that was hesitant to include me in a film, and because of his support, I went from potentially being unemployed to receiving an Academy Award nomination. I owe everything to him.

Woods explained that he responds to others based on their behavior towards him. Even though he and Reiner disagreed politically, they maintained a mutual respect.

You know, I always say how people treat me says a lot about them, and Rob Reiner was just a lifesaver for me. We really clicked – we genuinely liked each other, and he always had my back. People would ask me about his political views, and I’d tell them, ‘I think Rob is a true patriot.’ We just saw things differently when it came to how to show that love for America, and he didn’t always agree with my ideas either. But he respected that I was patriotic, just like him. We had different ways of getting to the same place – wanting what was best for our country. And honestly, disagreeing with someone doesn’t mean you have to dislike them as a person.

James Woods Recalls Rob Reiner’s Reaction to Charlie Kirk’s Death

Despite the sadness surrounding Rob Reiner’s passing, Donald Trump has affirmed his existing opinions of the director and intends to share them. James Woods disagreed with the president’s assessment of Reiner as ‘dangerous,’ instead describing him as an insightful thinker. Woods continued by saying:

I was acquainted with and supportive of Charlie Kirk. There’s been a lot of awful things said about Rob, which is very different from what I’ve seen. While I didn’t share his political views, I deeply cared for Rob as a friend, admired his talent and status in Hollywood, and respected him as an American. I’m truly heartbroken by his passing.

Hollywood was stunned and heartbroken to learn that director Rob Reiner and his wife were murdered by their son, Nick, who has been arrested and is currently in custody. Colleagues who worked with Reiner on his films have shared touching memories of a man who played a key role in launching the careers of many successful actors.
