James Gunn knows who he wants to play Peacemaker’s mom

With Season 2 of Peacemaker wrapping up, creator James Gunn has shared that he’s thinking about what’s next for the show’s main character’s mom. He has future plans for her storyline.

Season 2 of Peacemaker has involved a lot of family drama. In the first season, we found out that Christopher Smith’s brother, Keith, had passed away. Later, near the end of the season, he killed his father, Auggie, who held prejudiced beliefs.

However, things took a turn in Season 2 when Smith found a portal leading to Earth X. To his surprise, his father and brother were still alive there! This led him to say goodbye to his current life and move to Earth X to be with them.

Okay, so that hopeful feeling doesn’t last long, because Chris quickly finds out that on this alternate Earth – Earth X – the Allies actually *lost* World War II. That means America is basically run by Nazis! It’s a really messed up situation. And throughout all this craziness, there’s one thing that’s bothering me… one family member is nowhere to be found… It’s so strange!

James Gunn says he knows the location of Peacemaker’s mom

Regarding Peacemaker, very little is revealed about his mother, Elizabeth Lewis Schmidt, in the comics. We know she was married to Wolfgang Schmidt, an Austrian businessman and Nazi, and that she immigrated to America with her son, Chris, when he was young.

It’s also noticeable that the character doesn’t appear in the Peacemaker TV series, especially considering how much the show centers around the Smith family.

Although James Gunn’s mother wasn’t featured in the first two seasons, it seems he has future plans for her. When a fan inquired about her absence on the ‘Peacemaker: The Official Podcast,’ the writer-director explained:

I’m aware of her current location, but I’m keeping that information private. She was very close to being included in this season’s cast. And I’ve already decided on who I’d like to cast in the role.

Although Season 3 hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, the continuation of the series will probably involve a showdown between Chris and the villain Keith. Also, the appearance of Elizabeth – assuming she keeps that name – will almost certainly create some emotional complications.
