With Season 2 of Peacemaker finished, creator James Gunn has stated there aren’t any current plans for a third season. However, the character of Peacemaker, played by Christopher Smith, is expected to reappear in other DC projects.
The season finale of Peacemaker included a major plot point centered around a prison planet named Salvation, an idea first conceived by George R.R. Martin.
The latest episode had some surprising moments with Imp, a potentially heartwarming ending, and discussions about briefly featuring Deadpool.
Instead of continuing with a third season, the show ended on a disheartening cliffhanger, seemingly designed to lead into the upcoming Superman film, *Man of Tomorrow*. It’s unclear if a third season will ever be made.
Why James Gunn isn’t developing Peacemaker Season 3

So, I was reading an interview with James Gunn over at Deadline, and they asked him about Peacemaker Season 3. He basically said they aren’t actively planning it right now, because they’re focusing on the bigger picture for the new DCU and how Peacemaker fits into all *that*. He didn’t totally rule it out forever, but right now, the focus is definitely on the future of the DCU as a whole, and he thinks Peacemaker is a really important part of it all.
And that importance sounds like it’s going to extend to multiple movies in the DC pipeline.
James Gunn confirmed that Peacemaker will play a larger part in future projects. He emphasized the character’s personal and creative importance, stating that from the start, the goal has been to build up and sustain Peacemaker’s presence.

DC Comics has its major, well-known heroes like Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman, but they’re also successfully building stories and characters around lesser-known figures, like with the show Peacemaker.
James Gunn didn’t confirm whether Chris Smith will be in the upcoming *Supergirl* or *Man of Tomorrow* movies. However, he revealed that the storyline involving Salvation will include Rick Flag, Lex Luthor, and Superman, suggesting that Peacemaker will likely play a role in *Man of Tomorrow*.
