James Gunn has provided DCU fans with a huge Man of Tomorrow update.
In July of this year, Gunn’s Superman movie made its debut in American cinemas. This was the first full-length film to be set within Gunn and Safran’s DCU. The superhero saga features David Corenswet as the lead character, Superman, Nicholas Hoult portraying Lex Luthor, and Rachel Brosnahan in the role of Lois Lane.
Recently, it has been confirmed that a new Superman movie titled “Man of Tomorrow” is being produced and scheduled for release in 2027. Both Corenswet and Hoult will return to their original roles in this upcoming film.
What did James Gunn say about Man of Tomorrow?
On The Howard Stern Show, as reported by Superman Saga News on Twitter, Gunn affirmed that the widely circulated speculation suggesting a partnership between Superman and Lex Luthor in Man of Tomorrow, albeit unwillingly, is accurate.
He explained that the story revolves around Lex Luthor and Superman joining forces, albeit temporarily, to confront a formidable enemy far greater than either of them.
At present, the identity of the threat is unknown, with some suggesting Brainiac could be the primary villain in the upcoming film titled Man of Tomorrow. Previous statements by Gunn suggest that Peacemaker Season 2 acts as a prequel to this movie, implying that further hints about the Superman movie may appear in future episodes of the John Cena-led series.
Furthermore, according to ScreenTime on Twitter, Gunn mentioned that the production for Man of Tomorrow is expected to start approximately in April 2026.
At present, specifics concerning Man of Tomorrow are still kept confidential. The upcoming DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures film is scheduled for release on July 9, 2027. In the meantime, Superman can be bought or rented across numerous digital streaming platforms, while fresh episodes of Peacemaker Season 2 will keep rolling out every Thursday until its finale on October 9, 2025.
