What Might ‘007 First Light’ Tell Us About the Amazon Reboot?

IO Interactive
Scheduled for release on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and other platforms in 2026, 007 First Light will tell a brand new, original story. The game focuses on the beginnings of James Bond, portraying him as a talented but headstrong naval airman who is recruited by MI6.
As a huge Bond fan, I’ve been wondering what Amazon’s planning for 007, and this new video game, 007 First Light, might give us some hints. Apparently, Patrick Gibson, who you might know from Dexter: Original Sin, is playing Bond in the game, and he’s quickly become a frontrunner with the bookmakers to land the role in the next live-action film. It’s definitely interesting to see who they’re considering!

There’s a strong rumor that Amazon, now in charge of the James Bond films, plans to reboot the series with a much younger 007, showing his early days before he became a licensed agent. Although the game 007 First Light isn’t the next movie, it might offer clues about the direction the films will take under director Denis Villeneuve.
