I was really surprised to hear that Jacksepticeye won’t be doing his ‘Thanksmas’ charity stream this year. It’s become such a big tradition, and he always raises so much money for amazing causes, so it’s definitely a bummer! He announced it himself, and while he didn’t go into a ton of detail, it’s just not happening in 2023.
Each year during the holidays, Jacksepticeye teams up with popular online personalities and famous celebrities to collect donations for charity. He started these fundraising events in 2017, and over the past seven years, they’ve raised an impressive $26 million.
Known as ‘Thankmas’ – a playful blend of Thanksgiving and Christmas – McLoughlin has inspired friends and online viewers to donate to charities such as World Central Kitchen, New Story, and Red Nose Day, among others.
With the 2025 holiday season getting closer, people are wondering what the YouTuber has planned for his annual Thankmas stream. He discussed his plans during a livestream on November 17th.

Jacksepticeye pauses Thankmas charity drive for 2025
Jacksepticeye announced in a recent livestream that he won’t be hosting his annual Thankmas charity event this year, explaining he has two main reasons for the change.
McLoughlin shared that he’s been incredibly exhausted this year. Between launching his ‘Top O’ the Mornin” coffee and providing the voice for a key character in the popular game Dispatch, he’s been very busy and is feeling burnt out.
He confessed he needed a rest. He’s tired of feeling obligated to do charity work every year, especially since this year was particularly demanding. He doesn’t want to participate if he’s not genuinely up to it, and feels it’s better to take a break rather than go through the motions.
It’s best to support causes you genuinely care about, or that benefit your community, rather than simply donating without a personal connection. Charity should be driven by purpose, not just obligation.
McLoughlin also worried about the financial situation of his supporters. Knowing the current global economic challenges, he doesn’t want to ask them to donate to Thankmas if they’re already struggling financially.
Throughout the year, I began to realize many people were struggling financially. It wasn’t just affecting my own sales – I saw evidence of it online and in news from around the world, suggesting a lot of people had a tough year with their finances.
I don’t want to spend the whole year advertising things like comics and coffee, and then ask for donations when people are likely facing their own financial difficulties right now.
He encouraged his audience to relax and enjoy the holidays, suggesting that if they had planned to donate to charity, they could instead use those funds to treat themselves or their families.
He announced that Thankmas will be back in 2026, and it will probably be different from the live show format used in 2024.
People are very excited about the announcement and are already sharing ideas and anticipating next year’s event.
A generous donation of $200,000 during Valkyrae’s stream has given the Thankmas charity drive a huge boost for 2024, completely surprising her. This is the most significant recent development for the event.
