JackSepticEye becomes latest YouTuber to make a horror movie with new indie flick ‘Godmother’

JackSepticEye is joining a trend of YouTubers creating their own horror movies, similar to what Markiplier and Christopher Stuckmann have already done.

Irish YouTuber Sean McLoughlin, known as JackSepticEye, revealed the news on Twitter December 16th, sharing a photo from the set. The image showed a woman in a white robe appearing to participate in a mysterious ritual.

He excitedly announced on social media that he’s making his own horror film. He shared a picture of an article from Collider, confirming the movie’s title is ‘Godmother’.

The movie is an independent thriller with a ritualistic theme, and features actors Dee Wallace (known from 9-1-1), Paige Evans (from Revival), Cameron Cuffe (of Krypton), Riley Dandy, and Bruce Davidson (of X-Men).

SURPRISE! I’m producing an independent horror film.

JackSepticEye isn’t the only creator working on the project. Alanah Pearce, a well-known video game writer, streamer, and voice actress—recently featured as Malevola in AdHoc’s Dispatch—is also co-writing the film.

John Veron, the director of the short film A Suit and a Straight Razor, is helming Godmother. McLoughlin is the Executive Producer, and Craigh Sherwood, Nate Lipp, Eric Michael Kochmer, and Pearce are also producing the film.

A young couple heads to the Southern California High Desert for a weekend getaway, but their relaxing trip turns unsettling when they encounter a pair of unusually nosy and sinister retirees who invade their privacy.

Paige Evans stars as Theo Pettaway, a 28-year-old artist trying to make a name for herself. Theo is supported by her boyfriend, Colby, which helps her as she pursues her dream of selling her art and finding fulfillment in life.

Not much is known about the movie yet, but based on the reaction to JackSepticEye’s posts, fans are clearly very excited about it.

This news comes after Markiplier, another popular YouTuber, saw his independently made horror film, Iron Lung, released in cinemas earlier this month. It quickly gained traction and is now playing at major theater chains like AMC, Cinemark, and Regal across the United States, with plans to expand internationally soon.
