Dying Light: The Beast was a major release last week. You reprise your role as Kyle Crane, who has been trapped with the Baron for thirteen years and gained some unique zombie abilities. The game maintains the core Dying Light experience – fluid parkour, intense close and ranged combat, and a gripping day/night cycle – but now lets you unleash powerful beast abilities. Critics are raving about it, and it’s a strong contender for the best open-world RPG of the year. Players have also been discovering lots of Easter eggs, with references to Minecraft and Harry Potter being among the most surprising.
Avada Kedavra that Creeper!
In the *Dying Light: The Beast* expansion, there’s a tunnel near the Monastery that seems sealed up. However, if you examine the bricks closely, you’ll notice “9 3/4” written on them – a nod to the *Harry Potter* series and Platform 9 3/4. You can actually jump through the wall to enter the tunnel, and it leads to an even more interesting area.

As you go further into the tunnel, you’ll find a wall built from blocky shapes, almost like something from the game Minecraft. You can destroy these blocks with any weapon, but watch out – enemies can squeeze through the holes. It becomes a bit of a maze, so keep moving forward. Eventually, you’ll reach a door, and behind that door is a golden train.

Beside the wooden chest are Golden Train Tickets, but more importantly, you’ll discover the blueprints for the Last Hand of gloVa. Players who enjoyed Techland’s original *Dead Island* will remember this weapon – it’s been featured in all of their games. In *Dying Light 2*, it now creates a powerful, Naruto-inspired fireball.
That’s not the only fun hidden reference in *Dying Light: The Beast*. The game also includes nods to things like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a lyric from an Eminem song about spaghetti, and the legendary Excalibur sword. We expect to find even more surprises as players continue to explore!
