At Nintendo Direct on September 12th, Nintendo announced cast, title, and release date details, according to Polygon. In a brief video snippet, a butterfly flutters by as Mario, Peach, Toad, and Toadette slumber peacefully, eventually ascending into the sky where the title “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” is revealed. This is another joint production between Nintendo and Illumination, with the sequel title derived from the highly acclaimed 2007 Wii game, “Super Mario Galaxy.” Often praised as one of the finest Mario games ever made, it holds the third spot on Nintendo Life’s list.
Who’s in the cast?
As a fan excitedly looking forward to the upcoming movie, I’m thrilled to share that many beloved actors from the original film are set to reprise their roles. Chris Pratt will once again bring Mario to life, Anya Taylor-Joy will grace us with her presence as Princess Peach, Charlie Day returns as Luigi, Jack Black takes on Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key continues his role as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson is back as Kamek. Unfortunately, Seth Rogen’s Donkey Kong has yet to be confirmed for a return. The kids are hoping for more banana-filled action – perhaps even a spinoff named “Bananza”! And if they ever need a talented actress for Rosalina, Hunter Schafer is ready and willing for a video game adaptation.
