Now that the ‘Welcome to Derry’ series has finished and connected its story to the ‘It’ movies, Finn Wolfhard has discussed the surprising reveal and suggested he might reprise his role as Richie Tozier in future installments of the franchise.
Finn Wolfhard teases involvement in a future It franchise project
I recently read an interview with the young Canadian actor in Esquire, and he let slip something really interesting. He actually knew about the ‘Richie’ nod in the final episode of ‘Welcome to Derry’ – episode eight, to be exact – from the very beginning! It’s cool to know they were planting those Easter eggs all along.
Finn Wolfhard revealed he’d known about his character’s role in the It spinoff for a while. He said the creators, Barbara and Andy Muschietti, told him he’d be involved as early as 2021, confirming, “Yeah, I’m connected.”
The rising Hollywood star hinted at a possible return to the popular horror series, saying, “I believe there will be another opportunity in the future that fans will enjoy.”
In the season finale of ‘It: Welcome to Derry’, Pennywise reveals he experiences time differently and knows the Losers’ Club will eventually defeat him. He specifically mentions that Marge (Margaret Tozier) will become Richie’s mother.
As of today, HBO hasn’t announced whether “Welcome to Derry” will get another season. Also, Finn Wolfhard hasn’t shared any details about a potential return to the “It” universe as a key member of the Losers’ Club.
In a recent interview, Finn Wolfhard discussed the challenges of becoming famous so young, especially after starring in popular shows like Stranger Things and the It movies. He explained, “It was incredibly exciting, but there was a tough period during my teenage years where it was just hard to adjust.” He emphasized that no one could have truly prepared him for the experience.
