Be warned: This story contains spoilers from the November 17th episode of The Voice. If you haven’t watched it yet, you can stream it on Peacock.
Season 28 of The Voice is progressing well, and the coaches are nearly finished building their teams for the Playoffs. Michael Bublé recently finished the Knockout rounds on November 17, and one contestant, Jazz McKenzie, truly stood out. Her coach declared her a likely winner, and her performance was so impressive it even got Snoop Dogg rapping along and made Niall Horan feel unwell!
This season of The Voice has featured some incredibly talented singers, and I keep changing my mind about who will win Season 28. A few weeks ago, most viewers thought Aiden Ross from Team Niall would take the crown. Before that, I was really disappointed when Niall Horan eliminated Camille Tredoux with a song that didn’t suit her style. While there are many performers I enjoy, the standout moment of this particular night was Jazz McKenzie’s performance of Smokey Robinson’s “Cruisin’.”
It’s easy to understand why Jazz McKenzie impressed the coaches enough to get four chair turns during her blind audition. The coaches clearly haven’t forgotten her talent, and they still seem very enthusiastic about her performances on Team Bublé. Snoop Dogg even started rapping during his feedback, which got a good laugh from everyone.
Jazz, you have a wonderful voice. However, your rendition of Smokey Robinson’s song wasn’t quite right – you significantly changed the lyrics. It was clear you were inspired by the original, and that’s admirable. Michael Bublé, this message is for Jazz.
Snoop Dogg almost never says who he thinks will win a rap battle if it doesn’t involve one of his own artists. So, when he advised his co-coach to support the 31-year-old rapper from Alabama, it was a significant moment.
Niall Horan shared his enthusiastic opinion, and without his recognizable Irish accent, his tone might have seemed angry when he said:
Jazz, you’re an incredible singer – easily the best in the show. It’s unbelievable how effortlessly you perform; you make it look so easy! Honestly, it’s a little frustrating to watch because it seems unfair how naturally talented you are.
Reba McEntire thinks the singer is amazing and has always been impressed by her talent. Her coach, Michael Bublé, praised her by saying she has a divine presence and shines with inner light.
Once she was confirmed as a playoff contestant, Michael Bublé shared in an interview:
Jazz is an incredibly talented singer – one of the best I’ve heard in ages. She has a phenomenal vocal range and really powerful voice. I believe she has a strong chance of winning the competition.
Absolutely, she’s a strong contender! Next Monday, we’ll find out the final three Knockouts, and see who Snoop Dogg selects for his Mic Drop. Will a new star emerge? Watch at 9 p.m. Eastern on November 24th on NBC, or stream it on Peacock starting the next day.
