The initial installment of Taylor Sheridan’s oil-centered series set in Texas has concluded, sparking speculation among viewers about the possibility of a second season featuring the character Landman. (Proceed with caution as spoilers follow!)
Over the past few months, it’s been an exhilarating rollercoaster ride for me as a Sheridan fan! With Landman, Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2, and Lioness Season 2 all hitting our screens at once, it’s been a veritable feast for us enthusiasts. Among these exciting releases, Landman has undeniably been the wildcard, largely due to Billy Bob Thornton’s captivating charm and some truly mind-boggling scenes.
In Season 1, we were introduced to the character of Tommy Norris, the landman himself. An unexpected meeting with his former spouse, the demise of his superior, and a brush with the cartel turned Tommy’s life into quite a challenge across ten episodes. However, now that it’s all wrapped up, you might be pondering if there will be further developments in the storyline.
In this write-up, we’ve gathered all the latest updates regarding Landman Season 2, ranging from cast members’ insights to anticipated storylines.
Has Landman been renewed for Season 2?
At this point, neither Paramount+ nor Taylor Sheridan have officially announced a renewal for Season 2 of Landman. However, given the show’s strong performance, there’s a good chance it might get another season.
Remarkably optimistic hints about the series’ continuation have been dropped by those involved, with Demi Moore (Cami Miller) herself stating in November 2024 that she will begin filming for season 2 as early as 2025, according to Deadline.
She mentioned that she’s finished the first season and is eagerly looking forward to when we can begin the second one, which kicks off in the new year.
During the very same month, fellow creator Christian Wallace likewise expressed his aspirations for more episodes, stating through The Direct: “If there are tales yet to be spun, I’d be overjoyed to continue sharing them.
I believe we only scratched the surface during our initial season, considering the expansive topics it covered. Indeed, I’m eager to continue exploring and sharing these tales for some time.
Keep in mind that these remarks were made prior to the debut of Landman Season 1. However, since then, the Sheridan oil drama has shown its value and even surpassed Squid Game Season 2 in the streaming rankings for late December.
As a global gamer, I was hooked into the exciting new series on Paramount+ right from its debut. In just the first week, over 6.7 million households around the world tuned in to catch this phenomenal original show, setting a record as the best-ever premiere for any Paramount+ original.
Over the ensuing weeks, Billy Bob Thornton received a nomination at the 2025 Golden Globes for his portrayal of Tommy Norris, while his co-star Moore bagged the Best Actress award for her work in The Substance.
Ever since the debut of Season 1, I’ve found myself completely hooked to Landman, and it seems like I’m not alone! The cast’s star power has only grown stronger, which suggests that the show might just get another season. Fingers crossed for a renewal!
What could Landman Season 2 be about?
Fortunately, The Landman’s Season 1 finale left several storylines open for potential continuation in Season 2. These include Tommy forming a new bond with Gallino, as well as the business’s persistence following Monty’s passing.
Throughout the initial season, I found myself grappling with one of the most significant perils – the cartel. At first, I had entered a contract with drug traffickers, but things took a turn for the worse when an unfortunate accident occurred on the road we constructed. This incident placed me and my company squarely in the crosshairs, accountable for the ensuing fatalities.
The cartel was equally upset and attempted to make Tommy pay for the goods they’d misplaced during the incident. However, Tommy remained relatively unconcerned. As the end of Season 1 approached, they had taken him hostage, brutally torturing him almost to death.
1) Gallino, the head honcho of the cartel, rescued Tommy. He holds Tommy in slightly higher regard now due to his role as a landman. He understands that both the oil company and the cartel must collaborate to achieve their shared goals. (This version maintains the original’s meaning while using more straightforward language and simplifying some of the phrasing.)
However, his help isn’t free-of-charge; it seems he’s aiming to partner with Tommy in the oil business. He’s adamant that they establish a close friendship as part of the deal.
In the aftermath of Monty’s tragic demise, who met his end due to yet another heart attack during the finale, it’s now up to Tommy and Cami to steer the ship at M-Tex Oil. This sudden turn of events brings about a significant rearrangement of power within the company, with the lingering farm-out deal hanging in the balance. The fate of everyone involved hinges on how this deal pans out, making it a make-or-break situation for all parties concerned. As a loyal fan, I can’t help but wonder what the future holds for our beloved characters and the company they now lead.
Ultimately, it’s worth noting that Cooper and Ariana found themselves in a new romantic relationship after her husband’s passing. By the conclusion, they were prepared to embark on a fresh chapter in their lives together.
Or,
Lastly, Cooper and Ariana entered a new romance following the demise of her spouse. In time, they grew ready for a new beginning as partners in life.
A key aspect was Cooper realizing his long-held ambition to establish an oil company of his own. The first season concluded with him traversing various farms in an attempt to acquire leases for previously unused land.
In other words, will Cooper make it to higher positions, could Tommy’s recent alliance pose a greater risk, and can the team at M-Tex Oil manage their new duties effectively? We’ll have to wait until Season 2 to find out.
