Although Jordan Peele isn’t officially confirmed to be involved yet – and the team at his production company, Monkeypaw, might just be teasing fans – their continued sharing of Blade-related content hints that the rumors could be true.

The buzz began when Cosmic Marvel shared a report from insider DanielRPK claiming that Marvel Studios is interested in having Jordan Peele direct a movie within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Monkeypaw retweeted those words with the “eyes” emoji, prompting some wild speculation.

It kept provoking controversy by sharing a photo of Jordan Peele with fangs from his old ‘Sexy Vampires’ sketch, along with the caption: “When people online assume you’re making a new ‘Blade’ movie just because you mentioned [eyes emoji].”

The production company’s Instagram account made the speculation even stronger by sharing an article from Complex with the headline, “Jordan Peele’s company teased upcoming Marvel film,” and adding the playful disclaimer, “We neither confirm nor deny this.”

What’s the status of the Blade movie?

The Blade movie is still in limbo, with no director onboard, and no release date scheduled.

Mahershala Ali will star as a vampire hunter with superpowers. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige first revealed this casting at the 2019 Comic-Con.

The script has gone through many revisions with contributions from several writers, including Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Beau DeMayo, Michael Starrbury, Ni Pizzolatto, Michael Green, and Eric Pearson. Originally planned as a period piece, the story was ultimately set in the present day.

Kevin Feige had indicated the film would receive an R-rating. Bassam Tariq was originally going to direct, but later Yann Demange was set to take over. However, Demange left the project in June 2024.

Mia Goth was added to the movie’s cast in 2023, but Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre were no longer involved. The film’s release date was repeatedly delayed, and eventually, it was removed from Marvel’s planned releases.

In an October 2025 interview with Elle, Goth stated she’s still involved with the project, explaining the hold-ups are due to Marvel’s desire to get it perfect. Recent reports suggest they might be bringing in Jordan Peele to help achieve that.
