Ironmouse doubles down defending TheBurntPeanut over VTuber award win

Popular VTuber Ironmouse has strongly supported TheBurntPeanut after his win at The Streamer Awards for VTuber of the Year, a decision that has caused division within the VTuber community.

The Streamer Awards for 2025 took place on December 6th, honoring top streamers. Kai Cenat was a big winner after his successful Mafiathon 3 event, and IShowSpeed was chosen as Streamer of the Year.

The VTubing community celebrated its top creators with a VTuber of the Year award. While Ironmouse is usually a strong contender, TheBurntPeanut won the award this year.

The popular streamer, known for playing first-person shooter games and ARC Raiders, has caused disagreement among VTubers. Some VTubers, wanting to protect their community, have argued that he doesn’t fit the typical definition of a VTuber and shouldn’t have been considered for the nomination.

Ironmouse defends BurntPeanut from “cringe” hate

After Peanut’s victory, Ironmouse has consistently supported him, praising his achievements and responding to negative comments. She reiterated this during her stream on December 8th, expressing her disapproval of people who are ‘blindly hating’ on him and calling their behavior ‘cringe’.

Ironmouse expressed her confusion and frustration with the criticism she’s receiving. She said she doesn’t understand why people are saying she isn’t a VTuber, emphasizing that she clearly fits the definition of one.

Honestly, people are really trying to tell me this guy is awful, pointing to things he’s supposedly said about VTubers. They’re listing off all these statements, but all I see are funny moments and bits he’s done. It’s weird – everyone’s talking about how much he supposedly hates them, but I just don’t see any evidence of it. I’m starting to wonder if this ‘hatred’ is just something people are making up!

I probably could have phrased that tweet better. People were upset that I used the word ‘cringe,’ but I was just being truthful – it really felt cringeworthy. Seeing people express such strong, unwarranted hatred is what I find embarrassing and odd.

Ironmouse recently addressed the criticism surrounding BurntPeanut’s status as a VTuber. She expressed confusion over the negativity, stating that he clearly meets the criteria and she believes in celebrating others’ achievements. While acknowledging she might have phrased a previous tweet differently, she emphasized that it’s unpleasant to witness unwarranted hatred directed towards someone.

This whole situation really hits home for me, honestly. It feels a lot like what happened when I won Creator of the Year in 2023 – all the negativity that came after was tough, and this feels similar.

“It’s the same s*it, and I can’t see myself doing that to people, I just can’t,” she added.
