Intel is working hard to improve its position in the market. While cost-cutting is part of the plan, the company is also actively seeking investment and partnerships. They’ve already received government funding and begun working with NVIDIA, and reports suggest they may also reach out to Apple for collaboration (according to PC Gamer).
Apple x Intel collaboration is possible after all
According to Bloomberg, Intel and another company are exploring ways to work more closely together, though the details of these talks haven’t been released. This comes as Intel seeks funding following issues with its recent 13th and 14th generation processors.
It’s tough to see how Apple would gain anything by working with Intel again. Switching to their own M series processors was a smart move, and those processors keep getting faster and more powerful. Because of that success, it seems unlikely Apple would want to go back to using Intel chips.
I’m really hoping Bloomberg gets some more leaks soon! As it stands now, I don’t see Intel being a good fit for Apple. It just feels like NVIDIA would be a much smarter partner – they haven’t started making their own processors yet, which leaves room for collaboration. And it’s interesting that Apple is already working with MediaTek on mobile chips, so they’re clearly open to different options.
The only indication of potential collaboration between Intel and Apple comes from Tim Cook, who mentioned that increased competition in chip manufacturing would be positive and that Apple would welcome Intel’s return. This suggests Apple might consider having Intel produce their M-series chips, or they could be using the possibility of working with Intel to gain leverage in their current negotiations with TSMC.
